The European Commission to invest €14.5 million in new maritime projects
Check out how EurOcean and our Members are invloved.

22 new sustainable blue projects have been pre-selected for funding by the European Commission under the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (EMFF). They will share €14.5 million. The grant agreements are currently being prepared for signature.

These projects are the results of a selection made under a call for proposal launched to accelerate the deployment of a sustainable blue economy across the EU and the Mediterranean.

They will work on the following topics:

  • Innovation (de-risking investment in demonstration projects)
  • Invironment (fighting marine litter and restoring ecosystems)
  • Cooperation for a sustainable blue economy and better ocean governance in the Mediterranean sea basin.
Check all the pre-selected projects here.
AQUA-LIT (Preventive Measures for Averting the Discarding of Litter in the Marine Environment from the Aquaculture Industry) is one of those initiatives. Its consortium includes EurOcean and our Members VLIZ, IEO; FRCT and Nausicaa. AQUA-LIT is lead by Geonardo and will begin in January 2019. More details soon.
