Better Off Blue in Berlin
The Baltic Sea Biobased Economy was the centre of attention at the 2nd SUBMARINER conference

Angela Schultz-Zehden, Managing Director of EurOcean member, the SUBMARINER Network presented the conference declaration at the end of the 2nd Submariner Conference, “Better Off Blue – Creating Synergies for a Biobased Society”.  The declaration identified three key priorities on which SUBMARINER intends to work in the next years:

  • Overcoming regulatory barriers in the blue bioeconomy,
  • Addressing data and information needs in the blue bioeconomy, and
  • Awareness raising and marketing for the Baltic Sea Region blue bioeconomy.

Ned Dwyer, EurOcean Executive-Director, contributed to the final panel discussion where he stressed the need to involve civil societal actors in blue bioeconomy developments from very early in the process and he offered the support and experience of EurOcean members in addressing the priorities identified in the conference declaration.  You can consult the conference agenda and topics  through the SUBMARINER website, where a  full conference report will be available in late October.
