Bringing the Ocean to Society
1 Jan 2017
Happy New Year to all our readers!
2017 is already shaping up to be a busy year at EurOcean, with activities across all of our three focus areas.

Our redeveloped Marine Research Infrastructures Database V2.0 will be unveiled shortly. This combines the existing four infrastructure databases and will offer users an enhanced experience in searching and retrieving the information they want. Our repository of marine projects and their results (knowledge outputs), the Marine Knowledge Gate, will be completely overhauled before the end of the year and will make it easier for users to find the information they need. In regards to outreach, we are reviewing our activities and will develop a new communications strategy, also looking at how we can best take advantage of social media.

This year we are working on five European Funded Projects, EUROFLEETS 2 and RISC-KIT will come to an end in the first part of the year with a key role for EurOcean in the final communication and dissemination activities. COLUMBUS was successfully evaluated in its recent mid-term review, so EurOcean will continue with adding quality checked knowledge outputs to the Knowledge Gate, as well as contributing to the organisation of the 2nd COLUMBUS conference and first Blue Society Award. The MARINA project will be one year old in May and EurOcean is focussing on overseeing the development and population of its Knowledge Sharing Platform. INTAROS takes EurOcean into the realm of Arctic Observations and we will be busy in relation to development of communications and outreach activities whilst MARINET 2 has just started, and we will be scoping the integration of the Marine Research Infrastructures Database into its eInfrastructure.

We will keep you up to date on all these developments and more throughout the year. If you have marine activities and events you wish to publicise through our news page and eNewsletter, please let us know.
