Please note that for foreign students the application procedure takes longer since candidates holding a foreign degree are required to provide a statement of equivalence, which can take 15 days to obtain.

The Master

The Advanced Master in Sustainable Blue Growth is jointly organized by the University of Trieste and the National Institute of Oceanography and Applied Geophysics - OGS. The Master is addressed to researchers, scientists and managers. The aim of the Master is to support the creation of stable and attractive career pathways and highly skilled talents that will be needed to support expanding marine and maritime sectors. The focus of the Master is on strengthening professional skills and enhancing competencies in fields related to the blue economy.

The Master is articulated in the following sessions:

  • E-learning session: online training - from January 2021
  • 3 intensive frontal sessions of 15 days each (March, June, September 2021) in Trieste
  • Traineeship and discussion of the final project work

The Advanced Master is a one-year multidisciplinary course leading to a second level specializing Master and it provides 60 ECTS (European Credit Transfer System). Classes and lectures are held in English. It foresees three intensive face-to-face sessions of two weeks each, and is therefore suitable to fit work commitments. During the face-to-face sessions, several study visits, on-site experiences and networking events are organized. Moreover, during the 2021 edition students will also have the possibility to undertake a curricular internship.

To ensure that your application can be received in time for the deadline, please apply as soon as possible: candidates holding a foreign degree are required to 

register on the Universitaly portal and to provide a statement of equivalence from any ENIC-NARIC centre (CIMEA in Italy). CIMEA has an agreement with UniTS which guarantees the statement is issued within 15 days, and with the 28th October deadline approaching you have to act fast to be eligible. Refer to Step-by-step instructions of the “Application” page for further details.

Eligible candidates

The Master is open to candidates from all Countries with priority for those coming from Mediterranean and Black Sea countries. Postgraduate candidates from different fields of studies (oceanography, marine biology, geology, geophysics, geochemistry, environmental engineering, ecological modelling, climate study, coastal zone management, environmental economy and related fields) are invited to apply. The Programme can be accessed, with no restriction to age and citizenship, by whoever holds a master or PhD University degree (equivalent to a II Level Italian University Degree).
