EurOcean to participate in an IODE international workshop on data sharing
The 12 October 2020 event contributes to the UN Ocean Decade.

EurOcean will join the upcoming International Data Sharing Workshop for Non-UN IGOs, Global and Regional Organisations and Projects, NGOs and Private Sector. The event is being organised by the UNESCO IOC/IODE and will take place online on 12 October 2020. The provisional agenda for the meeting is now available here.

The main objective of the workshop is to share information between participants about the ocean-related data and information collected, managed and made available and to seek collaboration on the free and open sharing of data and information (or find out about impediments to this sharing).

As a contribution to the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development, the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO (IOC, EurOcean Cooperating Member) and its International Oceanographic Data and Information Exchange (IODE) aim to develop a global interoperability network facilitating and promoting the sharing of ocean-related data and information so we look forward to your organization’s collaboration in this endeavour.

This workshop is also a contribution by IOC/IODE to the UN Ocean Decade and more particularly to the chapter on data (see Implementation Plan here).
