CESAM joins EurOcean as newest Member
CESAM, University of Aveiro, Portugal becomes the 13th Member of EurOcean

CESAM – the Centre for Environmental and Marine Studies of the Universidade de Aveiro, Portugal has joined EurOcean. “We are delighted to be joining EurOcean. It will help us enhance our networking across Europe and also to take full advantage of the comprehensive information EurOcean holds on research projects, their results and marine infrastructures in Europe" said Ana Hilário, the CESAM representative to EurOcean.

CESAM is an Associate Laboratory of the University of Aveiro, and carries out leading international research on the environment, with a special emphasis on coastal and marine areas, with the aim of strongly contributing to the formulation and implementation of national and European strategies for sustainable development. There are four key thematic lines of research namely:

  • Marine Ecosystems & Resources
  • Environmental Biology & Health
  • Ecology & Functional Biodiversity
  • Integrated Environmental Systems

CESAM highlights the importance of improving knowledge transfer between research institutions and third parties, including industry, decision-making organisations and society. Due to the nature of its research, CESAM is mainly concerned about knowledge transfer to regional and national decision-makers organizations in order to actively contribute to the national sustainable development model in benefit of society and citizens.
