Post-Doc/Research Associate in the field of General Geology/Marine Geology

University of Bremen, Faculty 5 - Geosciences, is offering to a period of three years (with a possible prolongation by further three years), - under the condition of job release - the position of a Post-Doc/Research Associate in the field of General Geology/Marine Geology. Salary level 13 TV-L (100%).

The employment is fixed-term and governed by the Act of Academic Fixed-Term Contract, § 2 I (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz - WissZeitVG). Therefore, candidates may only be considered for appointment if they still have the respective qualification periods available in accordance with § 2 (1) WissZeitVG.

As per § 23 BremHG (Bremen University Law), scientific service in the above mentioned research field shall be performed under supervision of a Professor. Furthermore, in the course of the geo-scientific studies, a contribution in teaching activities is expected.

Regarding research, the focus of the cooperation will mainly be in the field of marine geology. The working group performs different investigations on processes of fluid circulation at the seafloor and in the water column. Own scientific work for a personal enhancement in connec-tion with the work focus of the research field (https://www. marum.de/en/about-us/General-Geology-Marine-Geology. html) will be expected.

Required qualifications:

  • Completed doctoral degree in Geosciences
  • Experience in participating in expeditions at sea, as well as the disposition to perform research cruises
  • Skills and experience in one or more areas of marine sedimentology, geo-chemistry and/or seafloor mapping
  • Ability and readiness for executing lectures offered by the research field
