UNESCO IOC Ocean Data and Information System Catalogue of Sources prototype launched!
Check out the brand new catalogue of ocean-related web-based sources/systems of data and information as well as products and services.

EurOcean's Cooperating Member IOC just announced the the launch of the first prototype of the its Ocean Data and Information System (ODIS) “Catalogue of Sources”

The ODIS “Catalogue of Sources” aims to be an online browsable and searchable catalogue of existing ocean-related web-based sources/systems of data and information as well as products and services. The ODIS “Catalogue of Sources” should not be confused with data portals or even metadata systems: it does not provide access to ocean observation metadata or data but guides you to sources where you can find these.

The Catalogue now contains nearly 300 records which are based on the list of sources in http://www.iode.org/data-national . All “owners” of the sites have been invited to edit and complete the records and to add additional records (ODIS aims at having a separate record for every service or product that is served by one organisation, institution or project). The current system is a prototype and IOC welcomes comments and suggestions to improve the system.

If you provide an online ocean data/information product or service then IOC would like to invite you to add it to the ODIS Catalogue. But please check first if the record does not already exist. You can log in to the system using your OceanExpert UserID and password.
