MARINA and ResponSEAble to team up for RRI and Ocean Literacy workshop
Co-organised event will take place in Brussels from 18 to 20 March and will serve to support marine policy-making with both projects' outcomes.

MARINA, the H2020 project involved in the implementation of Responsible Research and Innovation in marine matters in Europe, will come to an end in April 2019. By now, you may be already aware that its final conference is to be held in Boulogne Sur Mer, France on 12 and 13 March – a Call for Papers will be open until 8 February. Now it is time for another special announcement!

MARINA is teaming up with ResponSEAble to organise a joint marine policy event entitled:

OCEAN DIALOGUES: Supporting Effective Ocean Governance - The role of Responsible Research & Innovation and Ocean Literacy

The event will take place in Brussels from 18 to 20 March, the week after the final MARINA Conference. Its programme will be divided in two blocks:

  • a public event on 18 and 19 March (at Area 42 with multiple sessions on various marine themes including food from the sea, marine litter, maritime transport, sustainable coastal tourism, among others. Results will be used to elaborate a manifesto on the key principiples for the success of marine RRI and OL.
  • a policy-makers event (invitation only) on 20 March (at the European Parliament) with the support of the European Commission, UNESCO-IOC and the European Parliament. Will contribute to both projects’ legacy by addressing the role of OL and RRI in supporting effective Ocean Governance based on  tools, and ouputs of the two projects.
