According to the two institutions, "ideally, there will be a project funded by 100 000 euros and the remaining amount will be distributed by one or more projects depending on the decision of the jury."

The two entities also point out that "special emphasis will be given to projects that: present a work component in situ, ensure the scientific quality of the information made available and collected, constitute sustainable initiatives that are likely to continue after the end of their implementation period, education, awareness-raising and local action of the population to combat biodiversity reduction and which include a strong dissemination component, not only of a technical-scientific nature (articles, reports, books) but also, and above all, of a more general nature ".

Both institutions clarified that this edition of the Fund for the Conservation of the Oceans is subordinated to the theme "Endangered marine species. From Science to Consciousness "and will support" unprecedented projects, developed in national or international territory, that contribute to a better knowledge on marine species that are classified as threatened in the Red List of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) , that is, species classified with the statutes: Critically Endangered, Endangered and Vulnerable ".
