This two weeks training course on bioinformatics has been developed based on the recommendations of the Working Group "Marine Genomics" of the EU-US task force on Biotechnology Research, see http://ec.europa.eu/research/biotechnology/eu-us-task-force/pdf/eu-us_margenreport_2011.pdf
The training course is organised as a two week summer school from 17-30 June 2012 on the campus of the Jacobs University Bremen, Germany. The course will involve a maximum of 24 participants, with 12 from each side of the Atlantic. The course will cover multiple topics in applied bioinformatics and will be virtually split into a generic part introducing bioinformatic competences and a specialized part where the developers of each of the major data analysis portals like ARB/SILVA, QIIME, MG-RAST, CAMERA, will provide an overview of their data submission, analysis and interpretation infrastructure.
