The Marine Observation and Data Expert Group (MODEG) provides the Commission with scientific, technical and operational expertise in the domains of marine observation and data. It has held 9 meetings so far. The Commission is calling for applications with a view to listing candidates to make up the Expert Group. The Expert Group shall consist of approximately 25 members appointed in a personal capacity. They will be qualified individuals selected by the Commission on the basis of their ability to contribute to the Group's objective.

Members of the group of experts of experts must be nationals of a Member State of the European Union or, if appropriate, of an acceding country or a European Economic Area country.
