On the 9th November 2009 EurOcean organized it's 2nd Tecnhical Consultation (held at CNADS: National Council of Sustainable Development, Lisbon, Portugal) with several representatives of European Funded Projects, European Organisations and representatives of North African Countries and the European Commission. This initiative is a follow up of a decision (7th Steering Committee of EurOcean, Lisbon, 26-27 November 07) that agreed to establish “a network of the Information Managers of the Member Organisations in order to share experiences and to contribute to development of specific items of the EurOcean Portal”. After a first successful meeting in 2008 it was decided to maintain this yearly consultation. The main Goals were:
- Exchanging experiences based on marine information management and dissemination within the Members of EurOcean.
- Advising on new trends and demands with a view of enhancing technical cooperation among the Member Organisations and in interaction with the EurOcean Office, including the involvement in EC calls for proposals and other relevant EC activities.
- Building up a EurOcean network of technical experts in marine information and dissemination in Europe.
