Launching the I LIVE BY THE SEA 2020 International Youth Contest
This is the moment for children and teenagers from all over the planet to show their relantionship and concerns about our ocean.

Following the tremendous success of the previous editions of the I Live By The Sea International Youth Contest (have a look, for example, here and here), EurOcean is once again proud to support Today We Have and our Member IOPAN in the launch of the contest’s 2020 edition.

Children and teenagers from all over the world are invited to submit a story of “their sea” using photographs or films. We also invite parents, teachers and educators to publicise the contest around their families, friends and colleagues. The deadline is 13 March 2020.

Participants should also submit a short text (in English) describing the story behing their photographs and films. The films can consist of a simple story, follow the documentary format or even showcase various artistic forms of like a theatre play, a pantomime, a stand-up comedy, a dance, a song, among others. Be creative!

We all live by the sea. No matter how far from the coast is our home. Whether it is by the beach or up in the mountains, we all have a great impact on it and we are all impacted by it. It is up to us whether we create a positive relationship with the sea or have adverse impact on it. We believe that educating people about the importance and the beauty of marine environments is the key for a brighter sustainable future.

Therefore, the philosophy behind I Live by The Sea International Youth Contest is about raising awareness and the exchange of perspectives about the problems of our ocean. We strive to create an international society, whose members believe in the sense to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals, with special emphasis on marine issues. We hope that our contest unites the international youth to showcase their visions about the various matters affecting the marine environments, from social to natural issues.

We believe that the opportunity to connect young people from various parts of the world is a great value by itself. By taking part in the contest, they get a chance to be shortlisted for the exhibition that will run next summer in association to some of the most important ocean events taking place in planet. This is therefore an excellent opportunity for the younger generations to have a voice about the ocean. They can show to adults their present perception about the seas and coasts where they live. And what future do they want.

We want young people from all over the world to share this vision with us. We want all of them to feel that, little by little, we can change the world for better. The participation in this endeavour is already an “award”!

All works submitted will be reviewed by our panel of International Judges. Due to a variety of options for contestants the panel involves experts from a few fields of art and science.
