European Maritime Day In My Country hits record highs in 2019
EurOcean was delighted to participate with the "I Live By The Sea" photo exhibition.

The European Commission has just confirmed that as well as being the biggest year ever for the European Maritime Day Conference, 2019 was also the biggest year for the "European Maritime In My Country" intitiative. 

This year's event saw over 145 events taking place in 21 countries from inside and outside the EU. EurOcean was delighted to contribute to these statistics, with the organisation of the "I Live By The Sea" public photo exhibition, in collaboration with our Member IOPANToday We Have, and a number of local institutions (including the European Commission's Representation in Portugal, the Lisbon Municipality and Ciencia Viva) Our event even earned the attention of the Portuguese Premier, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa! The events took place from 1 April to 30 of June and covered a wide variety of initiatives such as beach-cleaning activities, guided tours of ports, workshops, conferences, seminars and exhibitions on maritime themes, eco-tours and walks in areas with significant maritime heritage (cultural, environmental), excursions by boat, visits to maritime museums or former ships, shipyards and port facilities etc.
