Five EurOcean Members gather to tackle marine litter resulting from aquaculture
AQUA-LIT is creating tools, databases and links between stakeholders to address the prevention and reduction of waste produced by the aquaculture sector.

EurOcean and our Members VLIZ (Belgium), IEO (Spain), FRCT (Portugal) and Nausicaá (France) plus s.PRO (a company part of our Baltic Sea Member, SUBMARINER Network) took part in the second meeting of the European project AQUA-LIT in Boulogne-sur-Mer, France, on 3-4 July 2019.

AQUA-LIT is funded by the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (FEAMP), within the scope of S2 MARINE LITTER and aims to design preventive measures to avoid the disposal at sea of litter from the aquaculture industry.

AQUA-LIT aims to provide a set of tools to the aquaculture sector as well as a database and links between stakeholders to address the prevention and reduction of waste, monitoring and quantification and their removal and recycling.

The project, coordinated by Geonardo (Hungary), also aims to evaluate current policies and make policy recommendations for better decision-making, including a plan to transfer results and knowledge obtained.

Stay tuned to AQUA-LIT by regularly checking its website, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn.
