Eurofleets+ to be officially launched at SeaFest in Cork on Friday 7th June, 2019
Significant increase in ship-time for scientists researching across seven seas

Eurofleets+, which facilitates access to the largest advanced research vessel fleet across Europe, Greenland, USA, Canada, Bermuda and New Zealand, will be officially launched on Friday 7th June at SeaFest in Cork Ireland largest Maritime Festival.

The Eurofleets+ Project which includes a consortium of 42 marine institutes, universities, foundations and SMEs from 24 countries across Europe, North America and Oceania, began in February 2019 with funding of €9.9 million. The project follows on the success of two previous Eurofleets projects.

With its official launch the programme will now move towards its competitive call phase, including SEA (Ship time and marine Equipment Application) which will have an ‘Ocean’ call, due to open June 2019, and a ‘Regional’ call, due to open September 2019.

Additionally, the details of upcoming calls for ‘Floating Universities’, a series of ship-based training initiatives in marine related science areas and six dedicated training courses focused on providing the next generation of marine researchers and technicians the opportunity to gain hands one experience with technologies and scientific instrumentation (ROV, robotics and Seismic) onboard European research vessels will be announced.

The Launch will be live streamed from 1.00pm from the aft deck of the RV Celtic Explorer, one of the state of the art vessels available through the Eurofleets+ project.
